Get Great Results With Complete Vein Treatment

From time to time, I evaluate patients from who are seeking a second opinion after having had their varicose veins treated elsewhere, with disappointing results. Common complaints are:
"My legs are no different in appearance after the treatment compared to before the treatment."

"I still have the veins I was hoping would disappear after treatment."

"The doctor told me to 'give it more time' for my veins to disappear."

In other words, their expectations for clearing up their leg veins were not.  The picture to the left shows veins in a patient that underwent ablation treatment of the trunk vein over a year ago.  In my experience, most patients require treatment for not only the trunk reflux, but for the bulging varicose veins as well.  Reflux is treated with endovenous ablation techniques, such as Venefit (VNUS Closure) or laser vein treatment that seal the non-functional vein.  This reduces pressure in the leg veins in general, but usually does not result in disappearance of the patient's varicose veins or their vein symptoms. Microphlebectomy, or the removal of varicose veins through tiny nicks in the skin, is necessary to complete the treatment process.  This procedure is performed in the office under local anesthesia.  Recovery consists of three days of wearing a support hose and continuing normal activity except for exercise.

When choosing a vein care specialist, inquire about the complete treatment plan and set expectations for your outcome.  Dr. Paul McNeill and Dr. Garth Rosenberg at Capitol Vein and Laser Centers set the goal of a symptom free leg without unsightly veins as the result of your treatment.
