Dr. Oz on Varicose Veins, One of Women's Biggest Body Complaints

Dr. Oz recently hosted a segment on women’s biggest body complaints.  He reported that one of the top “body gripes” is varicose veins.  I believe it!  Every day at Capitol Vein & Laser Center, I interview and treat patients suffering from painful, unsightly varicose veins.

There are two components to varicose veins we treat.  First is the cause of varicose veins:, which is vein valve failure in the either the great saphenous or small saphenous trunk vein.   The second component is the result reflux, the dilated vein branches attached to the leaking trunks. Downward blood flow pulled by gravity fills and distends veins, making them "varicose veins."

Varicose veins are considered to be a medical problem because of the progressive nature of vein disease.   At Capitol Vein and Laser Center, we perform the Venefit (VNUS Closure) procedure and Microphlebectomy to treat trunk reflux and eliminate the dilated veins, respectively.  Each day I talk to patients who have undergone vein treatment and who express their gratitude for finally having relief for the issues plaguing their legs.

Dr. Garth Rosenberg and I are board certified vascular surgeons and full time specialists in venous disease at Capitol Vein and Laser Center. We offer state of the art vein care at our offices in Frederick, MD; Bethesda, MD; Leesburg, VA; or Charles Town, WV.

In case you were wondering, the other two body complaints of women were sagging breasts and cellulite.
