"How Long Will My Botox Last?" and Other Commonly Asked Questions

Botox is an ideal treatment for frown lines, worry lines and crow’s feet, also known as smile lines. The medicine works by relaxing the facial muscles that cause these aging signs. Treatment is very effective, but the full effect of Botox will likely not be seen for 5-7 days after injection.  Below are two of the most commonly asked questions in our office.

How long will my Botox last?
The answer is - it’s variable; however, Botox generally lasts about three to four months. Occasionally it may last a little longer.  I’ve found that CVL patients who get injections on a regular basis can usually go longer between treatments and often require fewer units.

Will my face be “frozen”?
Botox can and should be used to provide a natural, yet relaxed appearance, not a frozen look.  We discuss what degree of softening you are looking for and start with a conservative dose, customizing the dose and site of injections.  At your two week follow-up, we will assess the results and discuss your level of satisfaction.  If you feel the results are too subtle, we may need to inject a few more units.  After several treatments, we will know what dose is best for you.

If you’re considering Botox, schedule a consultation with a high level provider.  Check out for providers in your area - these offices have the most experience and can provide exclusive rebates through the Brilliant Distinctions Program.   The nurses at Capitol Vein & Laser have had extensive training and experience in both Botox and fillers, such as Juvederm, so you can be sure to receive the care you desire.
