Dermal Fillers are Great for Cheeks, Lips and Face

Dermal fillers, such as Restylane, Perlane and Juvederm, are commonly used to treat the prominent facial lines and creases that appear as we age.

The texture and composition of the tissues under the skin change as the years pass, and significant exposure to the sun’s UV rays accelerates these changes. The upper cheeks, lips, lines between the nose and corners of the mouth, and chin typically show the strongest effects of time and sun damage. As the lines become deeper, the face looks “weathered” or tired.

Simple placement of filler can markedly reduce the depth of the creases and give a more youthful look. Since the fillers are made of substances that occur naturally in the human body, they are typically well tolerated and last many months, even up to a year. There is no recovery needed after the filler placement, and any minor bruising generally disappears within days.

To help reduce the negative effects of the sun’s rays and maximize the results of your treatment, always use good quality sunscreen with SPF of at least 30 on the face. Even in the winter, the UV light can cause damage to unprotected skin. Retin-A cream can also be helpful in improving skin integrity.
