Botox
and Dysport injections are not exclusively for women.
Last year, more than 300,000 men got Botox, coined “Bro-tox" (Botox for men), according to figures released by the American Society of Plastic Surgeon
(ASPS). That's a 10% increase from 2010.
Being a competitive candidate in the job
market drives some men's decision. "I get men who are out of work
because they're competing with guys 20 years their junior for jobs," says
Dr. Phil Haeck, president of the American Society of Plastic Surgery. Haeck
says that he has many unemployed men coming in wanting to look younger quickly,
because they believe this will give them an edge in job interviews.
Men getting Botox is not a new thing - but it
is definitely a growing trend. Deep forehead creases and lines between the
brows can make even the friendliest men look angry and unapproachable. Getting Botox or Dysport is a way to soften
their looks and erase years, in order to succeed professionally, personally and
socially.
